About Us

Many customers will remember the shop in New York City, which was first founded in 1926 by Samuel Weiser on 4th Avenue as a general used bookstore. It wasn't long before Weiser developed into one of the world's top three antiquarian specialists in Esoteric books. The store moved within the City many times, and in 1956 Samuel Weiser Publishing was founded, and began producing new and reprint Esoteric titles. In 1985, Weiser Antiquarian Books also opened in York, Maine, where the Samuel Weiser Publishing, and the Samuel Weiser new book distributor were already operating. Sadly, for our many local customers, the New York store was closed for good in the early 1990s, and its stock of books moved to the new location in Maine. For the past 15 years, the many book lovers who followed our move, and those who have since found us in Maine, have been selecting from over 35,000 hardcover books which we now stock, covering all Esoteric paths and traditions.

We do our best to keep regular business hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, if you wish to visit our shop, please call ahead for an appointment to ensure that you are not disappointed. Just an hour north of Boston and an hour south of Portland Maine, we are located in Cape Neddick Maine. The beautiful New England coast, plenty of great seafood, and hundreds of factory outlet stores are just a few miles away to make your visit to this area a real vacation.
