The first English edition of discourses of Jalal al-Din Rumi, the great thirteenth century Muslim mystic poet and Sufi saint, translated from the original Persian by Arthur John Arberry (1905 – 1969) the highly respected scholar of Arabic, Persian, and Islamic studies whose latter years were spent as a Professor and Fellow at Cambridge University. Arberry's translations are still esteemed, and his work on Rumi was largely responsible for the introduction of this marvel of religious literature to the West..
