Decorated title page. Edition limited to 500 copies. A selection of prose works by J. C. Squire, most of which had previously appeared in the journals the 'Century Magazine', the 'Oxford and Cambridge Review', the 'Eye Witness', the 'New Witness', and the 'New Statesman.' With decorated chapter initials designed by Austin Osman Spare and cut in wood by W. Quick. From the collection of the late Robert (Taylor) Agasucci (aka Stafford Stone), artist, graphic designer, book illustrator and aficionado of the work of Austin Osman Spare. Cloth slightly rubbed and darkened, a little light chafing to extremities, light bowing to boards (as usual), some foxing and browning to page-edges, endpapers & half-title, else a clean VG+ copy (no dust jacket issued).
