The first edition of this work on the significance and consideration of light, colour and illumination in architecture and design, by Beatrice Irwin (1877 - 1953). Irwin was a pioneer in lighting design, both theatrical and industrial, and her work was strongly guided by her beliefs about the psychological, therapeutic, and spiritual influences of colour and light, which were informed by her involvement with Theosophy and other Spiritual movements. Her book "The New Science of Color" (1915) was extremely influential and went through a large number of printings. Cloth a bit rubbed and lightly spot faded, some rubbing and bumps to edges and points, spine sunned, pages edges a bit browned, pages clean and unmarked. Overall a tight clean about VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #64940
