Deptford-Bridge, England: Printed for the author by J. Delahoy, 1799. First edition. Hardcover. Tall octavo. xxiv + 306pp. Later green papered spine & gray papered boards. Printed paper spine label. B/w frontis-portrait. A collection of eleven lectures or sermons on Freemasonry, each comprising a chapter of the book. The Rev. Jethro Inwood (b. circa 1767) curate of St Pauls, Deptford (London), was for more than twenty years Chaplain, and later provincial grand master, of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent, to whose members the talks here produced were delivered. The book has been rebound in period-style paper covered boards, and given fresh endpapers, at some time in the mid-twentieth century. Blind stamps in the margins of the frontispiece, title-page, and final leaf, and an ink stamp on the verso of the title-page indicate that this is a "cleaned" ex-lbrary copy, although there are no other markings, and those present are barely noticeable. Boards lightly rubbed overall. Page-edges browned, frontis foxed & quite heavily chipped around edges and with a long closed tear at upper inside margin, offsetting from frontis to title-page, a few dozen leaves have sprung loose (all or in part) from stitching - but all pages are present. Overall a solid, complete Good-only copy. Item #10081
