A nice hardcover double edition comprising two of the best-known works pf George Nugent Merle Tyrrell (1879-1952), a British mathematician and highly respected psychical researcher and parapsychologist who for a short time in the 1940s served as president of the Society for Psychical Research. The first work "Science and Psychical Phenomena" is an intelligent and comprehensive survey of the evidence for psychical phenomena, whilst "Apparitions" was Tyrrell's best known work, being a scientific study of the "best attested cases of apparitions, hauntings and similar supernormal phenomena which are to be found on the files of the Society [for Psychical Research]." Light chafing and fading to edges of boards, corners bumped, page edges a bit darkened. Otherwise a tight, unmarked VG copy in VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket chafed and rubbed at edges with a few chips and tears, not clipped. Now in mylar cover). Item #21748
