Blind stamped on rear panel, black on front panel, gilt and black to spine, gilt titling to spine. Bevelled edges. Inscribed and dated 'with the Author's kindest regards' on blank verso of front endpaper by the author who wrote a number of popular travel books including this one. Part of the gift recipient's name has been scribbled over and subsequent attempts to erase the scribble have resulted in a blemish to the inscription and the reverse page in the location of the recipient's name. The remainder of the bold inscription is complete and intact. Ex-library with a few faint stamps all edges and title verso, adhesive residue from removal of bookplate to front fixed end paper - no other markings. Edges rubbed with a few light bumps, corners and spine ends chafed. Faint ink name ffep. Very faint foxing rear pages and scattered throughout, come light browning to margins. Despite flaws, this is an attractive near VG copy. Item #28638
