The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy ; And, the Magical Elements, or the Heptameron of Peter de Abano

Seattle, WA: Trident Books, 2003. First Edition thus, Limited. Hardcover. Octavo. xvi + 88pp. Full white vellum binding, with gilt titled leather spine label, and elaborate gilt titling and illustration on the front cover, b&w frontispiece, marbled endpapers, ribbon markers. Housed in custom cloth slipcase. This vellum edition limited to 250 hand-numbered copies. According to the publisher's statement the edition was limited to 250 copies bound in vellum, and 500 in leather but given the cost of vellum and the scarcity of copies in that binding it seems likely that far fewer were actually issued. We have seen just two since publication in 2003. This corrected edition of Robert Turner's translation of Agrippa's "Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy" includesTurner's original margin notes along with new footnotes. Turner's Greek text (with its accompanying Byzantine miniscule ligatures) have been transliterated, corrected, translated and elucidated by Professor Marc Huys. Continuing the custom commenced with the first English edition of this work in 1655, and preserved by Askin Books in the 1978 edition as well as Heptangle Book's 1985 printing, this volume includes the Heptameron or Magical Elements of Peter de Abano. A lovely copy - Fine condition in Fine slipcase. Item #30736
