Robert Boyle ( 1627 – 1691) was an Irish natural philosopher, chemist, physicist and inventor who is largely regarded today as the first modern chemist, and one of the pioneers of modern experimental scientific method. His best known work "The Sceptical Chymist" (1661), marked the beginning of modern chemistry. In this volume - a facsimile of the 1672 edition - Boyle explores mineral and crystal chemistry, and the "virtues" (medical and magical properties) that were then ascribed to them. Just a hint of light wear and chafing to boards, corners lightly bumped - otherwise near Fine condition inside and out. No jacket as issued. Item #30767
