An inspirational work by Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1848–1924), a highly influential American author whose works would now be termed self-help or motivational and which are said to lay down straightforward principles which can be used to attain a successful, balanced and happy life. Marden is said to have drawn heavily on the teachings of New Thought, and the writings of Samuel Smiles Just a hint of edge-wear and bruising to boards, old, small bookseller's label on front pastedown, endpapers starting to crack at inner gutters - but the boards are firm and solid. Tiny edge-tears a couple of leaves, text otherwise clean and unmarked. Overall a sound and bright VG+ copy in scarce VG- dust jacket. (Brown printed paper dust jacket is a bit darkened at edges and spine, well rubbed at all edges with a good bit of light chipping, particularly at corners and spine ends with some loss, now in mylar protective cover).
