Francis Bacon, A Biography.
New York: William Morrow, 1932. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 246pp. Red cloth with gilt titling to spine; b&w frontis, b&w illustrations, index, bibliography. A biography of Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St Alban (1561 – 1626) the hugely influential English writer, philosopher and statesman. The author is most definitely not a fan of the "Bacon was Shakespeare" theory, which she demolishes in a few paragraphs in the Preface. Cloth unevenly faded and a bit discoloured, spine sunned, spine ends bruised, page edges & endpapers darkened and foxed, pages toned with some moderate pale foxing - mainly to the first and last leaves. Overall, a tight VG copy. (No dustjacket.). Item #33885
