Large octavo. 216pp. Original brick cloth with black title & device to upper board, black titled paper spine label, b&w plates. New York City born Ralph Maxwell Lewis (1904 - 1987) succeeded his father Harvey Spencer Lewis, as head of AMORC [Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis] upon the latter's death in 1939. Ralph Maxwell Lewis wrote a number of books which became part of the Rosicrucian Library series published by AMORC, including this study of the evolution of human society and civilization. Cloth chafed at all edges and extremities, lower spine and corners bruised, page edges browned, endpapers unevenly browned, bookplate, pages browned, some light scattered underlining (minimal).
