A FRENCH translation of the fourth volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series, of which Westcott was the series editor. In this instance he also authored the Preface, Notes and Explanations under his magical name / motto "Sapere Aude." The book itself was described by Westcott as a work on the "kabalistic scheme of alchymy" which survived, in fragmentary state, as part of the "Kabala Denudata" of Knorr Von Rosenroth. William Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925), was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research).
