One of the volumes (the sixth) published of the scientific, linguistic and cultural researches undertaken by the expedition of Henri Marie Gustave, Vicomte D'ollone (1868-1945), a major in the French army, who led a party through China, Northern Tibet and Mongolia during the years 1906-1909. This particular volume comprises 45 vocabularies of the ethnic groups of North Eastern Tibet, Mongolia and Szechuan. d' Ollone's investigations into the languages of the Lolo and other tribes were pioneering. Cloth a bit darkened at spine, some minor finger marks to boards, edges a bit faded, spine ends and corners bumped and a bit chafed, abrasion to front pastedown from removal of bookplate, page edges and outer margins of paper quite browned, but still - a solid, unmarked near VG copy.
