De Nigromancia [attributed to] Roger Bacon. Sloan MS. 3885 & Additional MS. 36674. [ De Nigromancia of Roger Bacon ].

Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1988. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. (viii) + 100 pp. Original black cloth, with printed paper label to spine. Illustrations. Title page in red and black, initials printed in red, blue and black throughout. Attractive letterpress edition. De Nigromancia, or, Concerning the Black Art, is the translation of a Latin manuscript attributed to Roger Bacon, which first appeared at some time in the 16th century. The text is largely concerned with summonings, particularly of wraiths, but also of other demons and infernal entities. The cloth is faded & discolored (there seems to have been a problem with the type of cloth used as most copies we have seen have some degree of discoloration) although of course this does not show unless the dust jacket is removed. A little discoloration to the fore-edge, possibly a slight printing flaw, otherwise a clean, bright VG+ copy in near-Fine dustjacket (the dust jacket has a couple of barely-visible slightly discolored patches).
