The Magical Writings of Ithell Colquhoun.

United States: [ Privately printed ], 2007. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. iv + 364pp. Blue cloth with gilt titling to spine, b&w illustrations, appendixes. A collection of essays, lectures, and fragments, by Ithell Colquhoun (1906 - 1988), author, playwright, poet and painter (one of the British group of Surrealists). She had a profound interest in the occult, particularly the Golden Dawn, and was for a time a member of the Nu Isis Lodge of the O.T.O. As an author she is best know for her biography of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, 'Sword of Wisdom,' although she also published an esoterically themed novel, The Goose of Hermogenes. She is the subject of a biography of her by Eric Ratcliffe. The works collected here were apparently most intended as lectures, written from the 1950s through the 1970s, for presentation to esoteric groups including Tamata Bourkhoun's "Order of the Phoenix" and Kenneth Grant's "Nu Isis Lodge." Out-of-print in hardcover and uncommon thus. Very light shelf rubbing - otherwise Fine in Fine dust jacket. Item #40857
