Chelmsford, UK, Xoanon, 1992. First Edition - Limited, Signed. Softcover. Octavo (9" x 6"). 362pp. Original printed paper wrappers. Numerous black and white plates and diagrams, glossary. The true first edition of the late Andrew Chumbley's "The Azoetia," limited to 300 numbered copies of which this is No. 211. This copy inscribed by Chumbley "With a Thousand Blessings" and signed with his initiatory name "Alogos Dhulqarnen" [Dhu'l-qarnen] besides which he has drawn a small sigil. "The Azoetia," subtitled "A Grimoire of the Sabbatic Craft," has become one of the most sought-after new magical works of the last few decades. It is comprised of three main parts: "an exposition of preliminary magico-aesthetic formulae with detailed descriptions of working tools; the full text of the Sabbatic Rituals of Ingress, Congress, and Egress; and an eleven-chaptered Grimoirium detailing the arcana and composite practices of the Sacred Alphabet - the twenty-two lettered code of sorcerous principles underlying the practical spectrum of the Arte Magical. The entire work intends the reification of traditional British cunning-craft praxis according to the spiritual vision and artistry of a contemporary initiate." Being softbound, the spine is fragile and the book is often in delicate condition. This copy has a slight diagonal crease a the upper corner of the top wrapper, and a couple of very faint crease lines down the spine. It appears to have been carefully opened, but not read as such. Still a bright near-Fine copy. A rare chance to get the true first edition of what is without doubt the most exciting and sought-after magical books of the late twentieth century. Will require insurance charges additional to the postage cost automatically quoted. Once we know the destination we will quote the appropriate extra amount needed. Item #42277
