The first American edition of this collection of "notes and essays" on various subjects related to science, one of which is entitled "Science and Spiritualism". The author, William Mattieu Williams (1820 – 1892) was an English educator, phrenologist and science writer. From the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, although not marked as such. Spine faded with some bruising and chafing at ends, spine lettering dulled, upper corners bumped, page-edges browned, owner's name etc on front free endpaper, pages toned but unmarked.
