The rare first edition of this collection of essays and letters by the eminent Spiritualist, Sir William Crookes. It comprises two lengthy articles reprinted from "The Quarterly Journal of Science," three letters by Crookes to various Spiritualist journals (on "Miss Florence Cook's Mediumship," "Spirit Forms" and "The Last of Katie King" respectively) along with material from a speech given by Crookes to the 1898 Bristol meeting of the British Association. Very scarce - Worldcat lists only the 1904 second edition. Wrappers creased, rubbed & faded, minor creases to prelims, owner's initial on title-page, small fore-edge impressions to last pages, otherwise a solid, clean Good+ copy. Item #44249
