While the Lucis Trust focused mainly on promoting publications by his wife, Foster authored several small books including this collection of essays intended "to present factors of practical value which are of special significance to all esotericists today." The essay titles are: "The Esotericist in the World Today," "That Mysterious Hierarchy," "Discipleship in the New Age," and "Spiritual Cycles."
