A New Era for Psychics: A Psychic Challenge to the Post-War Years.

London: Rider, ND [ 1944 ]. First edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 124pp. Pale grey cloth lettered in purple on spine. Index & glossary. The author, Dr. Frederic H. Wood, is most widely remembered for his advocacy of the mediumship of "Rosemary," a girl of his acquaintance who was said to have channeled messages from an ancient Egyptian princess who communicated in the language of ancient Egypt, which Wood and A. J. Howard Hulme worked to "translate" into English. Wood felt that the "Rosemary Case" was real proof of survival after death. This copy inscribed by both Frederic H. Wood and "Rosemary" to esoteric author, Mona Rolfe: "To Mona Rolfe with esteem, from Rosemary [her name in different handwriting] and Frederic H. Wood, Oct. 29, 1944." Rolfe authored a number of books on various esoteric subjects including: "Initiation by the Nile", "Symbols for Eternity", and "The Spiral of Life". More recently from the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, with his ex-libris seal blind-stamped on the front free endpaper. Spine ends rubbed, bumps to corners of boards, top-edge lightly browned, else a solid, VG copy (no dust jacket). A clean copy with an interesting association. Item #47379
