London: T. Sabine & Son, [ 1795? ]. First Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 56pp. Pamphlet rebound in nineteenth century (?) limp black pebbled-cloth boards. B/w frontis. An interesting blend of two classic late eighteenth century chap book genres: prophecy and millenarianism. The first half of the booklet gives extracts from a dozen earlier works, each supposedly prophetic accounts that foretold then contemporary upheavals - the French revolution, wars etc. The second half comprises Nixon's Cheshire Prophecies, "Published from Lady Cowper's correct copy, In the Reign of Queen Anne, Also Nixon's Life." From the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, with his ex-libris seal blind-stamped on the front free endpaper. Chipping to fore-edge of page 37/38 (not affecting text), first and last leaves quite darkened, some modest soiling throughout. Frontispiece chipped around the edges and laid down, the words "I am, Sir, yours" in neat, contemporary handwriting reading below the printed compiler's initials on the last page of text. Overall a solid, complete copy in about VG condition. Item #49613
