New York: Redding & Co., 1885. Second Edition (?). Hardcover. Large thick octavo. 544pp. Full black leather dramatically decorated in gilt and blind, raised panels, with gilt lettering & decorations on spine, all edges gilt. Colour frontis. B/w plates (including one fold-out) & several color plates. An early edition of this a "connected and complete account of the persecutions and martyrdoms of Free Masons and Knights Templars." The book was first published in 1880 - we believe this 1885 edition to be the second edition, possibly with some additional plates. Spine a little chafed and very slightly canted, edges of boards chafed, tide-marks at upper edge of some pages at extreme inner margin ( very minimally affecting the text and illustrations), occasional spots of browning, pages lightly toned, otherwise a solid and unmarked VG+ copy.
