Original red cloth lettered in gilt on spine & front board, heraldic design in gilt & cream on front board. Marie Corelli, 1855-1924, was an enormously popular British writer of often occult-themed fiction, whose novels such as Ardath, A Romance of Two Worlds, The Sorrows of Satan, The Soul of Lilith, and Ziska, are considered by some to be minor classics of supernatural fiction. Her books had a wide readership - including Gerald Gardner who had four of her novels in his library - and Aleister Crowley, who refered to her in several book reviews. Cloth lightly rubbed overall with some light spot soil, page-edges darkened & dusty, spine slightly sunned and spine ends a bit bruised and chafed, a few light bumps to edges, offsetting to free endpapers, owner's name on front free endpaper, endpaper hinges split (but holding), otherwise a solid, internally-clean near VG copy (no dust jacket).
