The Master-Christian [ Master Christian }.

New York: Dodd, Mead & Co., 1900. First US Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 604pp. Original gray cloth lettered in silver on spine & front board, silver & red fleur-de-lys design on front board. Marie Corelli, 1855-1924, was an enormously popular British writer of often occult-themed fiction, whose novels such as Ardath, A Romance of Two Worlds, The Sorrows of Satan, The Soul of Lilith, and Ziska, are considered by some to be minor classics of supernatural fiction. Her books had a wide readership - including Gerald Gardner who had four of her novels in his library - and Aleister Crowley, who refered to her in several book reviews. Cloth lightly chafed at all edges and extremities, spine slightly leaned and a bit darkened, name on front free endpaper, page-edges browned, pages lightly toned with some light creasing, small pencil marks in fore-edge margins less than a dozen page, else a solid better than VG copy (no dust jacket).
