Hints and Observations for Those Investigating the Phenomena of Spiritualism.

New York, NY: E.P. Dutton & Company, 1918. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 110pp. Brown cloth lettered in red on spine & front board. B/w illustrations. With the ownership SIGNATURE of Frederick Bligh Bond aka F. Bligh Bond on the front blank. One of three studies written by Crawford (188? -1920), a lecturer in mechanical engineering in Queens University, Belfast. From 1914 until his suicide in 1920, Crawford devoted much of his time to the study of physical phenomena associated with Spiritualism - levitation, telekinesis, the weight of ectoplasm etc. - chiefly through his investigations with the extended family of Spiritualists known as 'the Goligher circle.' At the time of his death, he remained convinced of the veracity and accurateness of his findings. In this work he puts forwards his thoughts about the best ways to undertake psychical research, based on his own investigations and observations. Most recently from the collection of Dr. M. H. Coleman, with his blind-stamped ex-libris seal on the front free endpaper. Cloth a bit rubbed overall with a few light spots, light bruising and chafing to corners and spine ends, page edges darkened, pages evenly toned with a bit of light scattered foxing. Still a tight, clean VG copy with an interesting provenance. Item #53361
