Item #53788 Atlantis ( Liber LI. The Lost Continent ). Aleister CROWLEY, Kenneth Anger.

Atlantis ( Liber LI. The Lost Continent ).

Malton, Ontario, Canada: Dove Press, 1970. First edition. Hardcover. Octavo. x + 70pp. Original dark pink cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine. Referred to by Kenneth Anger who authored the very brief Foreword as a "sexual-magical treasure." Crowley's Atlantis is said to be "An account of the continent of Atlantis: the manners and customs, magical rites and opinions of its people, together with a true account of the catastrophe, so called, which ended in its disappearance" although in other writings Crowley allowed that there was more than a hint of satire in some parts of the work, whilst others were thinly-veiled metaphor. From the collection of British artist, writer and musician David Tibet (founder of the music group Current 93) with his neat pencilled ownership signature on the half-title page and bookplate tipped in at front. Cloth slightly darkened at edges, very light rubbing to points, page edges lightly foxed, a little spot browning to endpapers, otherwise a tight, clean, near Fine copy in VG dust jacket (Dust jacket somewhat darkenened and discolored, and a little wrinkling over all, a few tiny chips and closed tears, not clipped).
