Item #55029 The Equinox; Volume I, Numbers I - X ( Ten volumes ). Aleister CROWLEY, Israel Regardie.

The Equinox; Volume I, Numbers I - X ( Ten volumes ).

New York, NY: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1978. Third printing. Hardcovers. Quartos (10" x 7"). Ten volumes. White decorated cloth, with Equinox coat of arm and bannerheads on front boards, and gilt titles etc. on spine, over 4400 pages, numerous color and black and white illustrations. A complete set of the reprint of the first facsimile edition of the ten numbers which make up the first series (or 'volume') of The Equinox. Volume I Nos. I - X were originally published biannually between 1909 & 1913. Crowley was the editor and main author of The Equinox, which contained a variety of poetry, fiction, and reviews - generally with esoteric themes - alongside a number of articles of occult instruction. The release of the first Samuel Weiser edition in 1972 was a milestone in occult publishing - bringing back into print for the first time in nearly sixty years one of the major works of occult scholarship - and thus making it available to a whole new audience. This is the third printing of that edition. Boards lightly rubbed & darkened overall with some scattered marks from use and handling, spines very slightly darkened: for some reason the spines of volumes 5, 6, & 9 are brighter than the others, although the difference is not as marked as appears in the photograph, which is a trick of the camera. Some light bumping and bruising to corners, edges and spine ends. Page edges a bit browned with some foxing and light marks from use. Small brown spot on pp. vii - ix of Vol. I, tidy marginal notes in pen to approximately 30 pages in Volume 5, one word penned on one page in Volume 7 - otherwise all unmarked. Overall a very serviceable VG set. No dust jackets issued. Shipping at cost, please inquire. Item #55029
