Item #55486 The Confessions of Aleister Crowley An Autohagiography. John Symonds, Kenneth Grant.

The Confessions of Aleister Crowley An Autohagiography.

London: Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1979. First printing of corrected edition. Hardcover. Large octavo. 960pp. Black cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, frontis, illustrations. The revised reprint of Crowley's autobiography which he had originally intended would be published in six volumes. Only two of the six had been published before the Great Depression and various internal disputes led to the demise of the publishers. The project languished uncompleted throughout Crowley's lifetime, and it was not until 1969 that the Confessions were published in this single volume abridged edition, edited by John Symonds and Kenneth Grant. Still one of the major biographical sources on Crowley, and essential to an understanding of his life and magick. Includes a Preface by Kenneth Grant not present in the earlier (1969) edition of the work, and numerous revisions. Cloth lightly rubbed and faded at edges, very slightly shaken, page edges and endpapers a bit browned. Still overall a clean VG copy in near VG dust jacket (Dust jacket panels rubbed, a bit chafed at edges, light chipping & a few small tears to spine ends and corners). Item #55486
