Item #55530 The Secret Rituals of the O.T.O. [ OTO ]. Aleister CROWLEY, Edited and, Francis King.

The Secret Rituals of the O.T.O. [ OTO ].

London: The C. W. Daniel Co., 1973. First UK edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 240pp. Original brown pressed board covers with gilt lettering on spine, purple endpapers. Frontisportrait of Crowley. The controversial first publication of the "secret rituals" of the Ordo Templi Orientis, of which Aleister Crowley was one-time head, edited and introduced by Francis King. The book is in 3 parts: Part 1: "The Birth and Development of the O.T.O.", Part 2: "The Rituals Themselves", Part 3: "The Secret Instructions of the Seventh, Eighth & Ninth Degrees". Loosely inserted is a photocopy of three pages: the first two are a typescript headed "Corrections to King's Rip-Off of O.T.O. Documents" which comprise a list of approximately 30 corrections to the text of the book that were made by comparing it to the original documents in the Yorke collection. This was apparently done by a member of the S.O.T.O. in the 1970s. The third page is a photocopy of a blank O.T.O. / M.M.M. "Obligation of Allegiance form." Boards lightly bumped and rubbed, page edges a little darkened. Owner's name and address and bookseller's label on front endpaper, otherwise a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in VG+ mylar-protected dust jacket (dust jacket has small chips at folds and points, price-clipped on inner flap).
