Spectrum, Magazine of the Occult, No. 5, May/June. [ 1975 ].

Surrey, UK: Bywood Publications, 1975. First Edition. Softcover. ( 8" x 10") 32pp. Stapled illustrated card covers. B&w illustrations. The first journal to be edited by Michael Howard: it is arguably the predecessor of "The Cauldron magazine," which Howard founded in the same year that "Spectrum" ceased publication (1976) and which he went on to edit until his death in 2015. Howard was well known as a Gardnerian initiate, but his occult tastes were eclectic, as demonstrated by the subject matter of both "Spectrum" and "The Cauldron." This issue contains the usual news, reviews, letters, and art, as well as a number of articles including: "Baphomet and Son - A Little Known Chapter in the Life of 666" by R. A. Gilbert, "Pagan Ways" by Michael Howard, among others. From the library of English bibliophile and Aleister Crowley scholar Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper with a few pencilled numbers (indicating the pages with Crowley references) in the margin of the first page. Light wear and signs of use, otherwise a clean VG+ copy. Item #56210
