Grand Rapids, MI: Phanes Press, 1994. First Thus. Poster. 18 x 36 inches. B&W on thick white art stock. Text in Latin. Figures in black and white. A grimoire and esoteric print of calendar engravings said to be one of the most remarkable and comprehensive tables of celestial and magical correspondences ever published. The original calendar was designed by the great engraver, goldsmith and publisher of works by Robert Fludd and Michael Maier, Theodorus de Bry (1521-1623). It was printed in Frankfurt in 1620 and is one of the largest single copperplate engravings ever done. The "Calendarium Naturale Magicum Perpetuum" was the subject of a monograph by Adam McLean, "The Magical Calendar. A Synthesis of Magical Symbolism from the Seventeenth Century Renaissance of Medieval Occultism," which was the first book in the important "Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks" series (1979). "The Magical Calendar" was reissued by Phanes Press in 1994 and this poster was printed with the idea that it would be distributed with the book. Due to logistical problems (the poster is huge) very few - if any - posters actually seem to have been distributed and most were apparently pulped. A number sat in storage for over two decades and were recently rediscovered. These are from that group and are therefore new - thus Fine condition. Item #56453
