Seattle, WA: Trident Books, 1999. First Edition Thus - Limited. Hardcover. Octavo. xii+ 98pp (+ ivpp. adverts). Original cloth with printed paper title label to spine. Illustrations. Bibliography. Foldout frontispiece. Images printed on bright white matte finish acid-free French paper. Edition limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies, of which this is copy number 86 (although it seems likely far fewer were actually issued - with a small number of copies bound in leather or vellum). Note this is the true first Trident edition from 1999, a somewhat inferior quality reprint was issued in 2010. According to the publisher's notes, "Demonographia is a complete collection of the Louis Breton diabolic portraiture from 'Dictionnaire Infernal.' This collection has never before been published in its entirety and we feel seeing these images in the proper context will help the student of demonology 'flesh out' their ideas of what the descriptions given in works like 'The Goetia' intended. Each illustration is reproduced line for line. They have not been reconstructed but are given exactly as in the original source work. The original descriptions given in 'Dictionnaire Infernal' have been translated from the French and will be included as an appendix to the gallery of illustrations." Very slight bump at bottom of spine. A little offsetting from the printing process on verso of folding plate. Otherwise the book is Fine - as new. The soft paper dustjacket is notoriously easily marked. This example is a trifle darkened and has a couple of tiny marks, and a hint of creasing at the base of the spine and the points, but is still at least VG +. Item #56935
