Item #58593 G. D. Isis-Urania. Percy William BULLOCK.

G. D. Isis-Urania.

NP: ( Privately Printed ), 1894. First Edition. Leaflet. Octavo. A single 8 inch x 5 inch sheet, printed on the recto only. A notice sent to members of the Isis-Urania Temple of the Golden Dawn, announcing the resignation of "V. H. Frater Fide" (Alexander James Carden) and the subsequent appointment of "V. H. Frater Anima Pura Sit" ("Let the Soul Be Pure", the magical motto of Henry Pullen-Burry) to the position of Sub-Cancellarius which Fide had held. The document has "Levavi Oculos" ("I will lift up my eyes"), the motto of the Cancellarius, Percy William Bullock, printed at the bottom of the page. What is particularly curious is that it was in that year the Bullock married Carden's daughter, Pamela, who was herself a member of the G.D. ("Soror Shemeber"). Given the timing it is hard not to draw a connection between his daughter's marriage to Bullock, and Carden's resignation from the G.D. A variant issue, printed on the recto-only of a single sheet, folded to give four 8 inch x 5 inch pages, with slightly different typesetting, is also known to exist. An extremely scarce piece of ephemera. Fine condition. Item #58593
