Toddington, UK: Helios Books, 1964. First edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 46pp. Original red cloth with silver title etc to spine and front board. This copy warmly INSCRIBED by Regardie on the front free endpaper: "22nd March '68 / Thomas Head, / good friend and colleague / [signed] Israel Regardie." Dr. Thomas Head (d. 1999), was a personal friend of Regardie's, and an avid book collector who was well known for his encyclopedic knowledge - theoretical and practical - of different occult traditions. He was a skilled linguist, and an expert on the Enochian language, and is said to have studied with W. E. Butler, and Dion Fortune, amongst others. The book comprises two essays - "The Art of Magic," and "The Meaning of Magic" - in which Regardie gives a practical outline of the principle methods of Golden Dawn-style magic, and draws parallels with Jungian psychology. A few faint spots to cloth, upper corners very lightly bumped, spine ends lightly bruised, page edges a little darkened otherwise a lovely near Fine copy in VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket a little chafed at all edges and lightly chipped at spine ends, not clipped). Item #58697
