Ars Notoria: The Notory Art of Solomon [aka: The Magical Art of Solomon the King ]; Shewing the Cabalistical Key of Magical Operations, The Liberal Sciences, Divine Revelation, and the Art of Memory .. etc ..

Seattle WA: Trident Books, 1997. First Edition Thus - Limited. Hardcover. Small octavo. viii + 76pp. Original black cloth with paper title-label to spine. The edition was limited to 500 numbered copies, which were bound variously in cloth, part leather, or full-leather; this being one of the cloth-bound copies. The text itself is from the 1657 English edition, but this edition corrects errors and ommissions that occurred in earlier Trident Press printings, and includes a new bibliography of manuscript copies of the Ars Nortoria by Adam McLean. The grimoire itself apparently dates from the thirteenth century and is one of the core texts of 'Solomonic' magick. It basically sets out a magical ritual, with orations and words of power. It is said that their recitation leads not only to mystic unity, but can also bestow all manner of knowledge and other earthly boons. The faintest of bruising to spine ends otherwise a lovely near Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket a little darkened and slightly discoloured, edges a bit rubbed). Item #58833
