This copy is typical of the early issues of this work: it has a low number in the sequence of limitation, the binding is a brown patterned faux leather, it has plain light brown endpapers, is printed on a buff coloured stock, and with the title lettered down the spine reading "A Commentary on Goethe's Fairy Tale McLean". Boards lightly rubbed, pastedowns a bit rippled but not affected at all by the glue offset that is common to McLean's earlier bindings, glue at inner margins drying and a little brittle - but textblock is holding well. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy. Item #58859
