Mosaical Philosophy. Grounded upon the Essential Truth or Eternal Sapience; ( Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks series )

Edinburgh, Scotland: Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks, 1979. Limited edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 126pp. Hand bound in brown faux leather, gilt titling to spine, b&w illustrations. Edition limited to 250 copies. Signed by Adam McLean. Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks series No. 2. Robert Fludd (1574 - 1637), was a prominent English physician, a Rosicrucian with an interest in astrology, natural magic and mysticism, he was greatly influenced by the teachings of Paracelsus. In his book, "Mosaicall Philosophy," Fludd combined core Platonist thought with a fusion of alchemy and Kabbalah, and the work is now considered to be one of the first landmark early works on what is sometimes termed "the Hermetic Kabbalah." In "The Mosaical Philosophy" McLean has reproduced Books I and II of the second section of Fludd's work, and added his own Introduction and Notes on the plates. The first (and possibly only) issue of this, the second book in the Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks series. The paper on which it is printed is a buff colour, it has a fairly low number in the sequence of limitation, and the binding is a brown with the title lettered down the spine reading "The Mosaical Philosophy - Cabala Fludd". Boards lightly rubbed, a chemical reaction between the endpapers and the binder's glue has caused discoloration to the pastedowns which has offset very slightly onto the adjacent endpapers (a common occurrence with this volume), title on spine only partially legible (again as common with this volume), page edges a bit darkened, otherwise a tight VG+ copy.
