White Stains.

London: Gerald Duckworth & Co. Ltd., 1997. Reprint. Hardcover. Octavo. xvi + 118 pp. Black cloth with white title, etc. to spine, white facsimile signature on front cover. A reprint, with Introduction by Crowley's original biographer and literary executor John Symonds, of one of the scarcest of Crowley's books. It is commonly believed that most of the original 1898 edition was destroyed by British Customs on account of the book's allusions to bestiality, necrophilia, paedophilia, sodomy, and kindred subjects. The book was republished by Duckworth in 1973 in a limited edition, and subsequently reprinted several times. Old "new" stock. This volume, and a number of others we are listing, are actually brand new copies purchased by us from the stock of a retired specialist dealer. Hint of light shelf-wear, but otherwise New, and thus Fine condition in lightly rubbed VG+ dust jacket. Item #59165
