Swinburne Clymer (1878 - 1966) enrolled as a Neophyte in the Temple of The Rosy Cross and Imperial Eulis in 1897, and rose through the ranks, succeeding Edward H. A mixed set: the cloth of Vol. I is considerably darker than that of the other volumes, as common. Many titles published by the Philosophical Publishing Company list only Copyright dates, without indicating the actual date of publication or edition of the particular volume. These volumes may well be First Edition sheets, but bound up at different times, as needed, thus explaining the differing cloth bindings although we can't be certain of that. Among others, articles include: (Vol. I): "P.B. Randolph and the Supreme Grand Dome of France", "Convocation of the Rosy Cross", "The Destroyer of Faith in Religion", "Difficult Problems", "John Roach Stratton and the New Hypocrisy", "Munchausen of the Occult World [H. Spencer Lewis], "Fraternity of Osiris, Temple of Memphis". (Vol II): "The Resurrected Sphinx" "The Preisthood of Aeth", "The Call to the West", (Vol III): The Challenge (by Bruce McDaniel), "General A.E. Hitchcock, First American Alchemist and Rosicrucian", "The Sacred Cup, a Legend of Alexandria", "Knights of the Rose Cross, Temple of the Illuminati", "The Law" (by a Neophyte), "Science and Mysticism". (Vol. IV): "Sabeans and Star Temples", "Marriage, A Reciprocal Partnership", "Light on the Way", "The Application of Occult Terms", "Secret Schools", "Deferred Desire and Reincarnation", "First Sectarian Settlement in America", "The Depression, to the Uttermost Farthing", "Breathing Exercises and Coryza".
