Edinburgh, Scotland: Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks, 1981. Limited edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 78pp. Hand-bound brown faux leather, gilt title to spine, illustrations. Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks series No. 10. Edition limited to 250 hand-numbered copies. Signed by Adam McLean. "Jane Leade was a late 17th century English mystic of great importance, whose writings have been much neglected. She worked within the esoteric stream initiated by Jacob Boehme, although her writings draw upon her own independent mystical visions. In this early work she interprets the Book of Revelation, finding there sources of inner inspiration, a spiritual alchemy, rather than Apocalyptic hell fire and millenialist destruction. She was a mystic with great peace of soul and gentleness of vision." (Adam McLean). The binding is the early style mottled brown used by McLean. The lettering down the spine reads "The Revelation of Revelations Jane Leade". Light rubbing to boards, discoloration to the pastedowns (a common occurrence with this volume) which has offset onto the adjacent endpapers, and also resulted in a few darkened patches at the margins. Book a little "crackly" on opening (as often with McLean's works) but pages appear firmly attached. Otherwise a clean VG+ copy. Item #59557
