A typed letter, signed, from Kenneth Anger to a friend Roy Edwards, dated May 11, 1956.
NP, 1956. A single piece of 8 x 5 1/4 inch notepaper, with 22 typed lines on the recto (only), dated 11-May-56. Signed at the bottom in Anger's disctinctive style "Kenneth." An important letter. After discussing news of the death of a mutual friend - "Peter" - Anger observes that "I have been staying on here in Paris these past months - I was sick quite a long while after my stay in Cefalu as I'd exhausted myself with work and had injured my back." After mentioning a current film project he continues: "I have abandoned my project of a film on Crowley's stay in Cefalu as the censor would never let it be shown in England, so there's no point in pursuing it. Too bad as it would have been rather fun. I have tracings and photos of all of Crowley's murals - I may see about doing a little book on them some day." Included is the original envelope in which it was sent, with the typed address of recipient, and French stamp and postmark. A rare contemporary document regarding Anger's visit to Crowley's Abbey of Thelema at Cefalu. From the collection of English bibliophile and Aleister Crowley scholar Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper. The background of the letter is somewhat darkened, the envelope is quite worn and torn, in part at least from careless opening. Item #59948
