A wonderful guide to Egypt as it was during the pre-First World War heydays of Egyptian travel and exploration. The first 200 pages of the book are devoted largely to background information: Preliminary Information; Geographical and Political Notes; El-Islam; Outline of the History of Egypt; Hieroglyphics; Religion of the Ancient Egyptians; Historical Notice of Egyptian Art; Buildings of the Mohammedans; Works on Egypt. There follow some 436 pages with routes, details of places to visit, etc. etc. followed by a comprehensive Index. Corners bruised, one crease across front clover, small tear to spine at top of rear joint, covers somewhat rubbed, a little light staining and chipping to first few leaves.
