The scarce first edition of the first book by Doreen Valiente (1922 – 1999), who was initiated into witchcraft by Gerald Gardner in 1953 and was for a time High Priestess of the Bricket Wood coven, and in later life she became a leading figure in the Neopagan movement. "Where Witchcraft Lives" embodies her original research into folklore and history of witchcraft in Sussex - a county with which she was personally very familiar - viewed through the prism of her experience in Gardnerian witchcraft.
Cloth slightly faded at margins, page edges dusty with some light foxing, some uneven toning to endpapers, a few instances of pale foxing to the first and last leaves, otherwise a tight, unmarked VG or better copy in about VG dust jacket (the dust jacket is rubbed, particularly at the folds, a little darkened, a has some light chipping and some tears to the edges; two old tape repairs to the verso.
