Charles Walter Stansby Williams (1886 – 1945) was a British novelist, theologian, poet, literary critic, and a member of the Inklings literary group. Williams worked at Oxford University Press for many years, and at one time belonged to Salvator Mundi Temple of the Fellowship of the RosyCross. He wrote variously, this being one of best known novels, a sort of occult thriller in which a ghost seeks to thwart the plans a black magician's plans for dominion. Spine ends and corners bruised and lightly rubbed, spine very slightly canted, page-edges lightly browned, otherwise a solid, clean VG+ copy (no dust jacket). Item #60176
