Item #60240 Technical Extracts; ( Black Lodge Booklets: No. 6 ). Aleister CROWLEY.

Technical Extracts; ( Black Lodge Booklets: No. 6 )

NP [ Oxford, England ]: Black Lodge Publishing [ Mandrake Press ], 1991. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. Not paginated [36 pp. ] Laminated stapled wrappers, cover illustration and lettering in black. This is the first issue of the booklet, with laminated wrappers: the more common later issues were produced with plain buff wrappers, the publisher having discovered the laminating process to be a dreadful chore. An assembly of 31 short pieces - ranging in length from a sentence to a few pages - on various diverse subjects; magic; spiritualism; kabbalah, etc. supposedly written by Aleister Crowley. The selection has the following publisher's note at the end: "The above excerpts and fragments were copied by Cosmo Trelawny from a mass of papers and typescripts left in his rooms by Macgregor Reid. The originals were then sold to a bookseller, and lost when his shop was bombed during the war." The typescripts from which this edition were printed are in the Yorke collection, however some have questioned whether they are actually Crowley's work. If not they are certainly clever forgeries, as they do read as if he had written them. Covers a bit discoloured, lower corner creased, faint incense odor, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy.
