Item #60257 Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God. Kenneth GRANT.

Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God.

London: Skoob Books Publishing LTD, 1992. Second edition, corrected. Hardcover. Octavo. (x) + 246pp. Black cloth with gilt title and design to spine. B & W Illustrations. Loosely inserted is the original printed label detailing Kenneth Grant's expulsion from the O.T.O. by Karl Germer, and outlining the opinion of the O.T.O. that the Nu-Isis Lodge and "the magical system described in the present work" bears "little or no resemblance to the O.T.O. as designed by Frater Superior Baphomet XI (Aleister Crowley) and his predecessors ...". The label was placed by the publishers on the shrinkwrap in which the book was originally encased at the request of Hymenaeus Beta and the O.T.O. who objected to Grant's use of the name of the Order - a matter that was later resolved in a lawsuit. The label was usually lost or discarded when the shrinkwrap was removed, and thus copies with it included are uncommon. "This volume is reprinted from the 1973 first edition in which there were a number of errors. These have been corrected where possible, otherwise they are marked with an asterisk and listed on page 246." Kenneth Grant's idiosyncratic study of Crowley's system of sexual magick. Chapter headings include the Scarlet Woman; the Tantric Element of the OTO; Dream Control by Sexual Magick; Sabbatic Wine & the Devil's Graal; the Witches Sabbath & the Reincarnation of Primal Obsessions; Atavisms. Includes reproductions of works by Frieda Harris and Austin Osman Spare. Dust jacket design by Steffi Grant. Upper corners and spine ends very lightly bruised, page edges and endpapers a little darkened, pages lightly and evenly browned. Overall a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket rubbed and creased at edges and extremities, not clipped). WAS $145.00. Item #60257
