The Golden Hind, A Quarterly magazine of Art & Letter, Vol. 1 No. 3, April 1923.

London: Chapman & Hall, 1923. First edition. Softcover. Folio. 15 x 11.25 inches, 40pp. Original decorative printed wrappers. Forty illustrations, including two by Austin Osman Spare. A sumptuous production, beautifully printed on quality paper. The third issue of this well-known but short-lived literary and artistic journal, which comprised a mixture of prose, poetry, and artwork. This issue includes two works by Austin Osman Spare: a full page reproduction of a pen drawing "Farewell to Synthesis" and a magnificent double page lithograph (untitled: of a bending female nude) , as well as artwork by John Austen, Cecil French, Grace E. Rogers, Nora Wright, etc. Literary contributions by W. H. Davies, Aldous Huxley, Clifford Bax, and others. Wrappers a little rubbed and darkened. An extraordinarly bright and clean copy: the wrappers have just a little rubbing and edgewear where they overlap the text block (as always), the internals are bright and clean - as close to Fine as it would be possible to get in a volume of this vintage.
