The Azoëtia; A Grimoire of the Sabbatic Craft

Chelmsford, UK, Xoanon, 1992. (First Edition - Limited, Signed). Softcover. Octavo (9" x 6"). 362pp. Original printed paper wrappers. Numerous black and white plates and diagrams. The true first edition of the late Andrew Chumbley's "The Azoetia," limited to 300 numbered copies. This copy un-numbered, but with a stylised horizontal dash drawn by Chumbley in the place where the number would normally be written - perhaps indicating that it is out-of-series. This copy with a lengthy TALISMANIC INSCRIPTION by Chumbley and SIGNED by him with his initiatory name "Alogos Dhul-qarnen Khidir." "The Azoetia," subtitled "A Grimoire of the Sabbatic Craft," has become one of the most sought-after new magical works of the last few decades. It is comprised of three main parts: "an exposition of preliminary magico-aesthetic formulae with detailed descriptions of working tools; the full text of the Sabbatic Rituals of Ingress, Congress, and Egress; and an eleven-chaptered Grimoirium detailing the arcana and composite practices of the Sacred Alphabet - the twenty-two lettered code of sorcerous principles underlying the practical spectrum of the Arte Magical. The entire work intends the reification of traditional British cunning-craft praxis according to the spiritual vision and artistry of a contemporary initiate." A Fine copy - the spine is uncreased and the book appears unread. A rare chance to get the true first edition of what is without doubt the most exciting and sought-after magical books of the late twentieth century. Item #60770
