London: Watts & Co., 1920. First edition. Softcover. Small octavo. 24pp. Original printed wrappers. Included is 4.5" x 7.25" publisher's printed prospectus for this volume. Beadnell's attack on "The Reality of Psychic Phenomena: Raps, Levitations, etc." by W. J. Crawford (188? -1920) a lecturer in mechanical engineering in Queens University, Belfast. From 1914 until his suicide in 1920, Crawford devoted much of his time to the study of physical phenomena associated with Spiritualism - levitation, telekinesis, the weight of ectoplasm etc. - chiefly through his investigations with the extended family of Spiritualists known as 'the Goligher circle.' At the time of his death, he remained convinced of the veracity and accuracy of his findings despite arguments such as those contained in this small volume. Covers unevenly darkened and a bit discoloured, light creasing chipping & chafing to edges, page edges darkened, pages toned but unmarked. Overall a tight, clean near VG copy. Quite scarce.
